Obama Wins! Ok, So He’s Going To, Anyway
Written by billywest on November 4, 2008
I might catch some heat for the title. I mean declaring victory prematurely is in bad taste, right? Well, has there been any real doubt this past week that Barack Obama will be the next president of the United States? Not as far as I could tell.
Anyway, I’ve got a poll going over at 7:10 to Tokyo, so stop by and vote if you haven’t already. And, though it may be a little early (and in poor taste), let me be one of the first to congratulate Mr. Obama on the victory he’s about to realize. It’s time for a change; let’s cross our fingers that he’s all we’ve been hoping for in our next president.

Back in the Thick of it

Ok, here’s the deal… I’ve been running several websites for most of this year, including 7:10 to Tokyo and JapanBlogger.net. Well, the cheap-ass web hosting service provider I’ve been using decided to suspend my access to my own server and sites because, apparently, I’ve put a drain on their shared server space; A complete bunch of bullshit… No warning, nothing. It took them two days to respond to my inquiry about why the sites were down, and even after letting me know the deal, they still didn’t tell me how I could rectify the situation. Terrible customer service from a complete bunch of socially-inept douchebags. The worst thing is that they did this right after they accepted my payment for this quarter. The company, you ask? XtraOrbit. These ratfuck sonsabitches don’t deserve your money, so if you’re looking at hosting your own site(s), please don’t give your money to them.
Needless to say, I’m quitting that service provider and going with the one that’s hosting this here site, The Pokerist. Once I have access to my other sites, I’ll transfer them and update them regularly, but not as regularly as before. 7:10 is a good site, and I hope to continue adding content. But, I’d like it just to act as a site where I and other bloggers can feature some of our writings about Japan. From time to time, other bloggers have contributed to 7:10, like Shane Sakata and Tom from “Hello Mother, Hello Father“, but most of the time it has been just me. I’d like this to change, so when the site is back up, I’ll put up a post calling for other bloggers to contribute some of their stuff to 7:10 to Tokyo.
From now on, this site (The Pokerist) will be my personal page and I’ll do most of my posting here, hopefully several times a week.
